Nothing to hide from agencies, says Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal alleged that whenever the BJP realizes that it is losing, it unleashes all the central agencies on its opponents.

Ahead of the Punjab elections, the central government is pressuring the Law Enforcement Directorate to arrest Delhi Cabinet Minister Satyendar Jain. It is an old trick of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), when it realizes it is going to lose the election, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday. Mr Kejriwal said he and his party colleagues would welcome central government agencies coming after them with open arms as they have nothing to hide and previous attempts to carry out raids have yielded no results .

“Five states await the change of government this time around and the BJP has now turned to the agencies available to its central government to attack the opposition. We learned from our sources that the BJP government is forcing the Law Enforcement Directorate to arrest Mr. Jain ahead of the Punjab elections by presenting him on false and imaginary charges so that they can harm the election scrums of AAP,” Mr. Kejriwal said.

In a press statement, the chief minister said the AAP was not impressed with such political tactics used by the BJP. “The central government carried out malicious raids against Mr. Jain twice in the past and could not find even a penny’s mistake at the time. What’s going to happen with Mr. Jain? They will send him to jail, he will be released on bail after 5-10 days. They will not have a single piece of evidence to present to the courts. We are not afraid of investigations, we are not afraid of prisons. We are here, unfazed and unfazed,” Mr Kejriwal added.

Speaking about the recent investigations into Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s nephew, Mr Kejriwal said the AAP leaders will not make a huge show of the raids like Mr Channi got upset.

Reacting to Mr Kejriwal’s statement, Delhi Assembly Opposition Leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri called the statement ridiculous and called it a political ploy. “Mr. Kejriwal now feels his defeat in the various state elections and now tries to play the same sympathy card as every time. He has always tried to deceive the public by showing his helplessness. It seems that when no of his problems did not work, he has now resorted to political maneuvering,” Bidhuri said.
