BIR among the agencies with the most resolved complaints

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Internal Revenue, the nation’s largest revenue-generating agency, ranked third among major government offices with the highest complaint resolution for the first half of the year.

Data from the Public Service Commission (CSC) showed that the BIR received a total of 112 referrals on citizen concerns from the CSC from January to June. Of this number, 30% or 34 are classified as complaints against the BIR.

Seventy percent or 78 of the 112 citizen concerns about the BIR are requests for assistance related to its services and questions about taxation.

Also included are comments and suggestions on tax policies, as well as praise for identified BIR officials and employees.

The BIR said all 34 complaints against the agency had been addressed and resolved, including 78 other citizen concerns.

This earned the BIR a 100% resolution rate for all citizen concerns referred to the agency during the period.

“BIR-related complaints and concerns received from taxpayers play a vital role in helping us improve our processes and service delivery to our taxpayers,” said BIR Commissioner Lilia Guillermo.

The Ministry of Social Welfare and Development ranked first, followed by the Mutual Fund for Domestic Development or Pag-IBIG.

Other agencies with a high resolution rate are the Ministry of Interior and Local Government, Social Security System, Land Registration Authority, Ministries of Health, Education and Foreign Affairs, as well as the Land Transport Office.
