A longtime supporter of President Donald Trump’s America First program and member of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and said the sealed warrant leaves many questions unanswered.
Until there is full transparency in the case, the actions of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) only corroborate what whistleblowers recently told the House Judiciary Committee: that Trump and his allies must be slandered, and Biden’s business dealings must be silenced, Gaetz told NTD host Stefania Cox on Aug. 9.
Recently, some whistleblowers have come forward to the House Judiciary Committee, revealing two points: “If there is anything negative about Trump or his allies, it gets rushed, leaked, and used for political gain. Meanwhile, the FBI and DOJ are protecting Hunter Biden by downgrading information that shows the compromised Chinese Communist Party (CCP) first family,” Gaetz said.
Ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) called on FBI Director Christopher A. Wray for full transparency on the raid on Trump’s home.
“If the FBI is not extraordinarily transparent about its justification for yesterday’s actions and committed to rooting out the political biases that have infected their most sensitive investigations, they will have sealed their own fate.” The FBI’s mission and the many patriotic agents working hard to carry it out will forever be overshadowed by the mistrust the bureau has sown,” Grassley said in an August 9 press release.
Gaetz said targeting political opponents is what happens in socialist countries like Venezuela, which the United States is beginning to resemble with rampant inflation and crime. The United States is now in an era where federal law enforcement agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as in Venezuela, are becoming “the law enforcement wing of the Democratic Party” used to gun down political opponents.
The DOJ and White House did not immediately respond to The Epoch Times’ request for comment.
There’s no legal reason for 30 FBI agents to raid a former president’s home for records, Gaetz said, because that’s normally resolved out of court through attorneys and subpoenas.
“The idea that it was like an office affair for the archives is patently ridiculous. It was a political message, a political symbol, a show of political strength by the Biden administration, because they have an unpopular legislative agenda, and they face a midterm outcome that will undeniably take power from them. added Gaetz. .
A former Hilary Clinton lawyer, Mark Elias revealed in a August 8 Twitter Post his vision of what Trump’s FBI raid on Florida could accomplish.
“The media is missing the very, very big reason why today’s raid is a potential blockbuster in American politics,” he said.
Elias pointed to 18 U.S. Code 2071 – Concealment, Removal, or Dismemberment Generally, which details what happens if a person attempts to destroy federal documents. Elias pointed to this line of the code: “and shall relinquish office and be disqualified for office in the United States,” something Trump and his allies say the political left has been trying to achieve for many years now.
“It shows that the goal of the political left is not to win free and fair elections, where people can choose the candidate of their choice. Their goal is to stop people from even being a choice,” Gaetz said.
The Florida Republican added that Elias “is the same Clinton political lawyer who was very involved in peddling the Russian hoax, which was really the FBI and DOJ’s first effort to smear and destabilize Donald Trump unfairly and without due process. regularly and without following their own rules.”
Gaetz said the means and methods used by the FBI at Mar-a-Lago were intentionally chosen to be a “show of force.”
“And I think people right now, across the country, see it as an extreme and very dangerous political exercise, not a legitimate law enforcement activity,” he said.
If the GOP gains control of the House after the 2022 midterm elections, Gaetz said Republicans will exercise oversight and, if necessary, hold those in the DOJ and FBI accountable for any improper actions against Trump.
They have already escalated this abuse of power, starting by targeting those in the Trump administration, Gaetz noted.
“We see Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro being prosecuted for very dubious allegations, and we are even now seeing this aggressive action against the President… It is a very dangerous thing to do for our national unity. This is a very dangerous thing to do for the American brand around the world,” he added.
Gaetz said he sees this effort to slander Trump and his allies backfiring on Democrats.
“I think what will happen next is a rally around Trump, a likely Trump announcement for president in 2024, and a reinvigorated political movement ready to support him.”
