The Ogun State government says sourcing raw materials locally will help address the currency challenge facing industries, boost economic growth and create more jobs for Nigerians.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Press Officers of the Ogun State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Wale Osunbiyi and Mr. Ismail Oladipo.
The statement quotes State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Ms. Kikelomo Longe, as saying this during her tour of pharmaceutical industry groups Emzor, Apple and Pears Limited and CDK Integrated. Industry Limited, in the Sagamu area of the state.
Longe said the tour was about building a closer relationship with the industries and better understanding their challenges.
She assured them that the Dapo Abiodun-led administration would partner with industries to address the identified challenges to ensure their progress.
She reiterates the state’s determination to proactively support and develop solutions to the various challenges faced by industries operating in the state to ensure that businesses continue to achieve their goals as the industrial sector continues to prosper.
Longe said, “Companies should embrace import substitution because increasing local sourcing of raw materials would help alleviate the hard currency shortage faced by industries and contribute to the growth of the economy as well. to create more jobs for Nigerians. The current administration is deeply interested in the proper functioning of businesses because we know when businesses are doing well. this will positively affect the entire ecosystem. We want to proactively support our businesses and help them succeed and grow sustainably. Once industries are stronger, our employees will also do well.
Longe, however, called on companies to continue giving back to their host communities through relevant corporate social responsibility projects to strengthen harmonious relations with their host communities.
Earlier, the managing director of Apple and Pears Limited, Mr. Hali Hasbin, praised the state government for being proactive and responsive to the concerns of companies operating in the state.
Additionally, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceutical Industry Groups, Dr. Stella Okoli, said the company has increased local sourcing of raw materials.
The Managing Director of CDK Integrated Industry Limited, Mr. Benard Longe, has called for a speedy solution to the energy challenge facing industries across the country.
