Security agencies launch manhunt for bus passenger kidnappers in Kwara


Following the killing of two people on Saturday and the abduction of many others in Obbo-Ayegunle, Ekiti Local Government Area, Kwara State, security personnel including soldiers, police and Secret Service men, were deployed on a massive manhunt for the alleged kidnappers.

The state government made this known in a statement signed by the Communications Commissioner, Hon. Bode Towoju.

The government called on residents of Obbo Ayegunle to remain calm as security officers were aware of the situation.

He said a reinforced security team including police, secret service and military has been sent to support the existing security architecture in the region.

He sympathizes with the families of the two victims who lost their lives and pledges to take all necessary measures to safely return the abductees to their loved ones.

“While police and DSS contingents have since arrived in the area, the military team is expected to join the operation which is planned not only to rescue the victims but also to ensure that appropriate action is taken. against the perpetrators,” he added.

LEADERSHIP recalls that unidentified gunmen attacked an 18-seater commercial bus in Obbo-Ayegunle last Saturday, killing two people and abducting others in the process.

At the time of writing this report, the alleged kidnappers have not contacted the families of the victims for a ransom payment.
