HYDERABAD: Over the past few months, Telangana politics have become inseparably linked with Central and State investigative agencies. Out of nowhere and without warning, the names of prominent TRS and BJP leaders appear to be involved in various cases. As these investigations are tied to politicians, it appears that a new chapter of vendetta politics has begun in the state.

It all started with the Delhi liquor scam which caused a stir in Telangana and Delhi politics. From now on, the SIT constituted by the State questions case of “money for deputies”. In the meantime, several cases have been investigated by the State and the Center. In the Delhi liquor policy case, CBI, ED and IT departments carried out raids on various people and businesses across India.

Although ED and CBI have not yet summoned any politicians, the TRS leaders are attacking the BJP that it has a political motive to send the investigative agency teams at its disposal after the TRS leaders or his sympathizers or supporters.

The ED questioned the organizer of the Chikoti casino Praveen Kumar, in relation to the violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). During the investigation, the ED found Minister Malla Reddy’s official sticker on the vehicle used by Madhava Reddy who was also questioned by the ED in connection with the Chikoti Praveen case.

ED officials discovered that several Telangana politicians had ties to Chikoti Praveen. ED officials interviewed the minister’s brothers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Talasani Mahesh Yadav and Talasani Dharmender Yadav. The ED also summoned several TRS leaders including MLC L Ramana, Medak DCCB Chairman Chiti Devender Reddy. So far, all stages of ED in casino cases are somehow related to political leaders.

Meanwhile, not to be outdone, state government agencies had arrested Ramachandra Bharathi, Nanda Kumar and Simhayajulu for attempting to poach four TRS MPs. TRS leaders allege that BJP Organizing Secretary BL Santhosh, BJP supporter Thushar Velapally as well as BJP state official Sunil Kumar Bansal are behind the poaching episode .

The farm drama is being used as a political weapon by the ruling TRS against the BJP. Most interestingly, BJP party leader Gujjula Premendar Reddy has legally fought for a CBI investigation into the MPs’ alleged poaching case, claiming that the state government could influence the process of investigation with a political motive. The BJP leaders have analyzed the farm poaching affair as an act of revenge by the TRS in reaction to the Delhi liquor affair.

Later, officials from the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Branch conducted joint searches of the offices and residences of granite business owners, including Telangana Minister Gangula Kamalakar. TRS leaders have alleged that the BJP government is using investigative agencies to harass BC leaders in Telangana.

State TPS officials carried out searches at Sushee Infra and Mining Limited owned by BJP leader Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy. The raids took place within a week of the announcement of the result of the Munugode by-election where Reddy lost. BJP leaders described the raid as an act of revenge against Rajagopal Reddy, who fought against the failures of the TRS government.

SIT teams notified Busarapu Srinivas who repaired flight tickets for Ramchandra Bharati and Simhayajulu who were arrested in the MLA poaching case. Sources said that Srinivas is a very close associate of BJP state chairman Bandi Sanjay Kumar which is also an interesting development in Telangana politics.
